Until now, Apple’s possible car, developed within the secret Project Titan, written only from the second or third hand, and the information that came to us were from sources close to the company, or those within the automotive industry. However, that is something “cooked” at Apple now has for the first time confirmed an official document sent from the company.
VentureBeat is, in fact, found the letter sent to the US Agency for Road Safety (NHTSA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), in which Apple provides feedback regarding the regulations for autonomous vehicles. The letter was sent on November 22, and it says, quoting: “Apple uses machine learning to make their products and services made smarter, more intuitive, and more personal. The company invests heavily in machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential that automated systems have in many areas, including transport“.
Next they say that regulators should take care to facilitate data sharing between the companies involved in autonomous vehicles. They advocate for that new companies entering this market have the same opportunity to develop the technology and “natives” in the automotive industry. In conclusion, Apple states that “looking forward to working with NHTSA and other stakeholders to all the benefits of automated vehicles could be accomplished in a safe, responsible and expeditious manner”.
